Follow Up #3 - Storm
|
| |
| Toolalla Kennels decided to write to the proud owner
of a Toolalla Coolie, who purchased a puppy from the March 2001 litter.
Bernadette York provided the following positive feedback about her great
mate 'Storm' (offspring of Toolalla Clancy and Toolalla Jovie) |

| "Thank you for your letter. I
certainly do remember purchasing my coolie pup. He's gorgeous. We called
him Storm because of those freaky eyes (like Storm form the X-men
comics), most of the trip up there was stormy and his blue-merle
colouring is stormy too. Here are two puppy shots - you have a
profile shot of him on your web page. His nose is now just about
completely black- just a bit of white inside one nostril and he's got a
bit of lavender-brown colour on his legs. I think he would have been
great to work stock - from an early age he used to 'herd' my ducks and
do the 'eye thing' where he'd have a duck stopped in it's tracks while
he stared at it. But when he started stopping chooks and ducks by
putting a paw on their backs to immobilise them - we decided to keep him
away from them. I thought they might die of stress, not injury and all
we need do to get the ducks away is clap". |

| "However, he's a great mate to
have around and a fantastic guard dog. He has a series of
different barks which tell us what sort of 'invader' is around and
totally freaks out people when he confronts them at the fence or gate
with those great eyes (one blue, one hazel - it seems to change colour
all the time) - they don't know to watch out for the Coolie who's
silently checking them out. He does scare people but he has the
most sweet nature and is very obedient (although if he thinks he can get
away with doing something he's not supposed to he'll have a go).
He plays soccer and ready, set, go. We say ready, set, go and my
dogs race each other around the yard - the house yard is about two
acres. However, even though he loves to lie in puddles, put his
feet and whole head in the bucket or tub to drink he doesn't seem to
like swimming. All my other dogs love swimming and jump of the
creek bank to retrieve Frisbees and balls. He is not interested at
all." |

| "He loves apples, plums and
cherries from our trees and plays with them like a kitten before he eats
them. We've seen him "pick" apples with his two front paws -
the other dogs just use their jaws. We've trained him to do
pathetic tricks like lifting his paw (shake - but we use a different
command) and just the normal dog commands. He's very fit and loves
the back of the ute." |
